Trek Journal
During the last seven years of Earth Trek, a journal record has been updated that provides and insight into travels of natural history photographer Richard McKenna.
Richard has travelled extensively around Australia documenting the many visual wonders this great country has to offer. The journal provides a record of the thoughts and aspirations of a photographer on-location.

‘Working on-location as a natural history photographer has its great rewards. There is a feeling of being one with the planet as experiences are deeply embedded with the natural cycles of the environment. To capture special moments in nature a photographer becomes part of the natural processes as observations are documented. These observation come with extreme dedication and patience in order to capture on film the natural displays of light on natural elements. Its a challenging life where early rises and late returns to base camp are a normal part of each day and facing the elements is only one part of capturing that special image. But the rewards are great and a true sense of living is realised.’
